Is It Safe To Install A Clear Engine Cover On A C8 HTC Corvette?

But we want to talk to you about a couple of things that may have come up in a product review lately, as well as some of the feedback we've been getting from you, the consumer.

Will the cover crack?

Number one, we've heard a little bit about cracking. We've addressed some of those issues via a seal, as well as some bushings on each of the mounting holes. This thermal plastic has a tendency to expand and contract just a little bit. Now that heat that causes that is by nature going to be in the engine bay your car. However, this bushing and seal is going to allow a little bit of that play that you need in the thermoplastic to get rid of all those cracks. Now, the other thing that you can do to help yourself on this is don't over torque this thing. If you haven't had a chance to go out and check out that install video really doesn't take a whole lot to get that thing down.

How hot does it get?

Secondly, we're going to take some readings, infrared of our cover, as well as the OEM cover after a pretty significant amount of time in the engine running in the worst possible condition. That would be idle hot sun just sitting there baking. We'll show you the before and the afters. Let you take a look and compare what it really does in comparison to that OEM cover that does have the heat shield on the bottom that was referenced in some of those other videos. Lastly, we're going to show you a little bit of what the headliner looks like when it's down over the base of the car and the thermal readings there.
